Why weight loss slows down the leaner you get...
One of the most important, but frequently overlooked factors you need
to consider when you want to lose weight is your initial level of body
fat.
Individuals starting out with a higher initial level of body fat lose
more fat and less muscle than their lean counterparts — even when
fed the same total number of calories [2].
Why does this matter?
If we took two people, one with a lot of body fat, and one with low
levels of body fat, and fed them the same low-calorie diet, a greater proportion of
the total weight lost in the person with less body fat would come
from muscle.
